You read my Poem —– Sohini

You read my Poem

Sohini

You read my poem
You noted the facts
But you missed the soul
Hidden within words.
Hidden.
For I wanted you to dig the bones.
Or to simply ask
‘How have you been doing?’
Not to ask but to hear
To listen, to smile and to care…

You read my poem,
To register
Techniques, and the choice of words,
Footprints, echoes,
Each and all.
But you eternally kept missing the soul
That I had kept hidden for you,
Behind my bones
Beneath my bones,

Waiting through Spring, and through
Fall.
