Due to pandemic situation, outings with friends and family became a dream for all of us. So, I am sharing a family weekend trip’s experience to Purulia during last year’s winter vacation.

We boarded express train from Santragachi station at 6:25 am in the morning. We had our breakfast in the train with cakes, pastries, eggs and bananas which we carried from home. By 11 am, we reached Adda station where we hired a car. As we were very hungry by then, we stopped by a road-side dhaba near station to have our lunch. After lunch, we started our trip to Garpanchkot with Joychandi Pahar. It is a popular tourist spot for rock climbing. Then we visted Baranti, Panchet and Mython Dam. These places refreshed our souls with its lush green landscapes, verdant hills and panoramic beauty.

After this tiring day trip, we returned to our hotel. We relaxed the cold evening with spicy and delicious evening snacks in the hotel lounge, had our dinner and slept early.

Next day, we woke up early in the morning, had our hotel buffet breakfast and started our Purulia trip by car. We visited Ayodhya hills, Pathar Khadaan, Bamni Falls, Turga Falls, Upper Dam and Lower Dam, Pakhi Pahar and Mayur Hills. It is a belief that Lord Rama and Sita stayed in Ayodhya hills during their exile. After having lunch, we visted Chorida village where we got to see village life of Chhou dancers. We bought world famous chhou Mukhos(masks) from here. After enjoying the day thoroughly we returned to our hotel in the evening.

We took train back to Howrah next morning with adventurous and beautiful memories to cherish.
